Abstract: The monotonicity of a two-time-level CABARET scheme approximating amultidimensional scalar conservation law is analyzed. A modification ofthis scheme is proposed. This modification retains the monotonicity ofone-dimensional difference solutions to the CABARET scheme in a linearapproximation. As a result, it provides an increased smoothness in thecalculation of multidimensional discontinuous solutions. The results oftest calculations are given. They illustrate the advantages of themodified scheme.
