Abstract: This study presents the results of an investigation into the influence of the oxidiser/fuel (O/F) ratio of an oxygenacetylene (O2 + C2H2) explosive gas mixture on the phase composition, microstructure, wear resistance, and electrochemical behaviour of Fe49.7Cr18Mn1.9Mo7.4W1.6B15.2C3.8Si2.4 coatings fabricated by detonation spraying. The obtained results demonstrate that the O/F ratio plays an important role in regulating coating densification and structural integrity. Due to the high velocity and temperature of the powder particles during the spraying process, as well as the low content of oxygen-containing elements in the detonation products, the coating obtained at O/F = 1.1 from the powder with a predominantly crystalline structure had the highest content of the amorphous phase (80 vol%). Close values of porosity (~2%) of the coatings deposited at O/F ratio of 1.1–1.3 resulted in similarly wear and corrosion resistance. This demonstrates the importance of developing multifunctional coatings made from amorphous alloys with not only a low crystalline phase content, but also a low porosity. The obtained results establish a clear relationship between “process–microstructure–properties”, providing practical recommendations for determining the processing window for production of high-quality Febased amorphous coatings by detonation spraying.
