Abstract: A three-dimensional simulation of the development of an electrical discharge in a gas bubble filled with helium in a liquid dielectric (a partial discharge) has been performed. Cases of the development of ionization processes at different bubble deformations were investigated. For each deformation, cases of a symmetric position of the initial gas ionization region (seed) and an asymmetric seed position were considered. Patterns of positive ion and electron fronts at different times, and the distributions of the electric field and charge concentrations over time were obtained. Front features specific to the three-dimensional case for discharge development in a bubble were discovered. Charge distributions on the bubble wall and on the electrodes were obtained. Estimates were made of the electric tension forces arising at the bubble-transformer oil interface.
