Abstract: The estimations of the contributions of different processes on partial discharge initiation in the bubble in transformer oil under the action of pulse X-ray source were made. Basic equations for the description of the propagation of X-rays and electrons in a condensed media are given. The estimations of the total number and spectral density of X-ray photons were performed using the measurements of exposure doses for pulse X-ray source and the theory. The change of the photon spectrum after passing the layer of hydrocarbon liquid was calculated. The number of energetic electrons reaching the bubble from the liquid layer was evaluated. The estimations of partial discharge ignition by X-ray photons and electrons were made.
