Реферат: Ajoint of two titanium plates is created using magnetic pulse welding. The structure of the welded joint is exa mined using light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive x-ray microanalysis. The collision speed of the plates during the welding process is increased progressively from 450 msec to 650 msec producing the corresponding rise in the deformation and thermal effects. The hardness in local melting zones at the interlayer boundary increases substantially. Numerical simulation employing the method of smooth particle hydrodynamics reflects effectively the key features typical for magnetic pulse welding, in cluding the formation of a jet and local melting at the layer interface.
