Abstract:
Modern solid-propellant rocket motors are characterized by high operating pressure and energy in the gas cavity of combustion chamber. High energy density causes a lot of emergency situations (self-explosions) which are connected with unknown reasons and unknown physical phenomena (as a rule, when developing new motors). In this matter science has not kept pace with development of technology. Physics and mechanics of these phenomena are not clear. This means that developers can always meet again to this phenomenon. The combination of the described facts causes the urgency of this work. In these paper the mathematical model of hydro-elastic waves in a combustion chamber of the SRM is presented. Using this model the strongly nonlinear hydroelastic waves are described. The possibility of formation of strong discontinuities of these waves with the help of methods of the theory of weak discontinuities for nonlinear hyperbolic systems is proved. It is clear that the formation of strong discontinuities is very bad for the SRM. This is because a strong discontinuities can tear solid propellant at the walls of the SRM. It usually leads to self-detonation of propellant
